Samsung had unveiled the Galaxy XCover FieldPro, a rugged smartphone for people who work in the field, in October 2019. The device was only available to government agencies, though, but it is now available in the US on AT&T's network.

The Galaxy XCover FieldPro can be purchased through AT&T for $1,104.99. Interested customers can also get it via an installment plan of $36.84 (30 months). The carrier will begin shipping the smartphone between April 13 and April 15, and there's also an option to pick up the phone via one of AT&T's stores.

Galaxy XCover FieldPro is made with durability and reliability in mind

Samsung's latest rugged smartphone features a 5.1-inch screen with QHD resolution. It runs a two-year-old version of Android (v8.0), but the company plans to upgrade it to Android 10. The smartphone is equipped with the Exynos 9810 processor, 4GB RAM, 64GB UFS storage, and a microSD card slot.

The Galaxy XCover FieldPro features an 8MP selfie camera (F.17) at the front and a 12MP rear-facing camera with dual-aperture (F1.5-F2.4), 4K video recording, and triple-LED flash. The phone has GPS, LTE, Wi-Fi 5, Bluetooth 5.0, NFC, a USB 2.0 Type-C port, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. The phone comes powered by a removable, 4500mAh battery, and there's an additional 4500mAh battery in the box.

As the phone was made with durability and reliability in mind, it passes MIL-STD-810G and IP68 tests for resistance against dust, shock, extreme temperatures, and water. There's a dedicated Push-to-Talk button, which is pretty useful for first responders and law enforcement officials.

There's a capacitive fingerprint reader on the rear for user authentication. Thanks to Samsung's Knox security suite, the phone is compliant with CJIS, HIPAA, and FIPS, and can safely be used by the federal government in the US. Security features such as Samsung Pass and Secure Folder also come pre-installed on the phone.
