Samsung is expected to launch two new foldable phones—Galaxy Z Flip 4 and Galaxy Z Fold 4—in August or September 2022. And some information about the upcoming phones has already been leaked. Now, their charging speeds have been revealed.
China's CCC certification agency certified the Galaxy Z Flip 4 and Galaxy Z Fold 4, revealing information about the phones' model numbers, battery, and charging speeds. For the Chinese market, the Galaxy Z Flip 4 uses model number SM-F7210 and the Galaxy Z Fold 4 uses model number SM-F9360. Both phones support up to 25W fast charging, and they were tested with Samsung's 25W charger (EP-TA800).
Both phones will use the USB PD 3.0 fast-charging standard with PPS. The Galaxy Z Flip 4 appears to have received a much-needed charging speed boost. However, the Galaxy Z Fold 4 is still stuck with 25W charging and might not receive the 45W charging power upgrade available on the Galaxy S22+ and the Galaxy S22 Ultra.
The upcoming foldable phones are not expected to bring any significant difference in battery capacity, but the Galaxy Z Flip 4's faster charging could bring some relief to owners. It remains to be seen how fast the actual charging times are for the next clamshell-style phone from the South Korean firm.
The Galaxy Z Flip 4 and the Galaxy Z Fold 4 are rumored to feature the more power-efficient Snapdragon 8 Gen 1+ processor and Android 12-based One UI 4.x software. The Galaxy Z Flip 4 could have a slightly bigger cover screen, and the Galaxy Z Fold 4's display aspect ratio could also change. Both might also get camera upgrades and slimmer builds.
