The original Galaxy Z Flip had a tiny 1.06-inch cover display and that left a lot to be desired. It couldn't display notifications properly and didn't seem much more than a gimmick. It was a genuine pain point for customers who bought the clamshell foldable.
Fortunately, Samsung made amends with the Galaxy Z Flip 3. It featured a 1.9-inch cover display that could show a lot more content and was actually usable. Now it's claimed that Samsung is going even bigger for the Galaxy Z Flip 4 cover display.
Galaxy Z Flip 4 cover display may be even more useful
Ross Young of DSCC has highlighted the possibility that the Galaxy Z Flip 4 cover display is going to be larger than that of its predecessor. The actual size hasn't been revealed but it's expected to be more than 2-inches.
If that is true, it will be a substantial improvement over the existing device, and it would certainly go a long way in making the cover display more useful on the device. A bigger cover display would mean that users won't have to unfold their phones all the time.
Not much else is known about the Galaxy Z Flip 4 at this point in time. Samsung has itself confirmed that new foldable smartphones will be released this year. That's to be expected as foldables are now a permanent fixture of its smartphone lineup.
As things stand, Samsung is expected to unveil the Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Galaxy Z Flip 4 in the second half of this year. There will likely be more leaks and rumors about the devices in the months to come as fans wait for what will undoubtedly be the best Samsung phones of 2022.
