Just two days after we bade farewell to 2023, Samsung has started rolling out the new year's first security update. The Galaxy Z Flip 4 is receiving the January 2024 security update in Europe, less than a month after it was updated to Android 14/One UI 6.0 in the region.
The Galaxy Z Flip 4's January update comes with the firmware version F721BXXS4EWL5, and once it is available in your country, you will be able to download it over the air via the phone's Settings » Software update menu.
The update only brings new security fixes, and we will have to wait a few days for details on those fixes as Samsung has yet to publish them on its security bulletin. But that's okay, as we will soon see new features arrive with One UI 6.1, which will debut on the Galaxy S24 series later this month with some fancy AI-powered features.
However, it remains to be seen how many of those AI features will come to the Galaxy Z Flip 4 and other devices eligible for One UI 6.1. Some of the features might require the enhanced AI computing performance of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 and Exynos 2400 chips to work optimally; even if older devices are capable of supporting them, Samsung may keep a few features exclusive to the Galaxy S24, S24+, and S24 Ultra to hype up its latest flagship smartphones to attract customers.
