Samsung has introduced a massive cover screen with the Galaxy Z Flip 5. The new foldable phone was unveiled a few minutes ago during the Galaxy Unpacked event in South Korea. With the newer and bigger cover screen, Samsung has added the ability to do more things via new widgets, layouts, and a complete on-screen QWERTY keyboard. But can you use any app on the Galaxy Z Flip 5's cover screen?
The short answer is yes. You will be able to use any app installed on your phone on the Galaxy Z Flip 5's cover screen, but not right now
Galaxy Z Flip 5 can run any app on its cover screen via Good Lock
While you can only use a few apps on the Galaxy Z Flip 5's cover display by default, Samsung is soon bringing the ability to let you use any app installed on the phone on the cover screen. YouTuber MrMobile (Michael Fisher) has revealed that Samsung is planning to bring the ability to run any app on the Galaxy Z Flip 5's cover screen via the Good Lock app. You can view MrMobile's video at the end of the article.
With an upcoming update, Good Lock will let you activate all the apps to be used on the cover display. The update is reportedly coming a few days after the release of the Galaxy Z Flip 5. So, the update should come sometime after the phone's general availability on August 11 in most countries.
Right now, the Galaxy Z Flip 5 lets you run five full-fledged apps right now: Camera, Messages, Google Maps, Netflix, and YouTube. In the future, though, you will be able to use any app on the cover screen. In comparison, the Motorola Razr 40 Ultra lets you run any app by default, although due to its dual camera cutout on the cover screen, some UI elements in the app can't be accessed.
