Samsung has started rolling out the February 2024 security update to the Galaxy Z Flip 5 and the Galaxy Z Fold 5. This new update is rolling out to the carrier-locked and factory-unlocked units in the US. The company has already released the new security update to the Galaxy Z Flip 3 and the Galaxy Z Fold 3 in various countries.
USA variants of Galaxy Z Flip 5 and Galaxy Z Fold 5 get new updates with February 2024 security patch
The new security update for the Galaxy Z Flip 5's carrier-locked version comes bearing firmware version F731USQS2BXAD in the US, and it is available on Metro PCS and T-Mobile networks. For the factory-unlocked version of the Galaxy Z Flip 5, the new update comes with firmware version F731U1UES2BXAD, and it is available on Comcast and Xfinity Mobile networks. The February 2024 security patch fixes 72 security vulnerabilities discovered in the previous software version.
The carrier-locked version of the Galaxy Z Fold 5 is also getting the new security update, and it comes with firmware version F946USQS2BXAD. This update is currently rolling out on Metro PCS and T-Mobile, and other carriers could release it soon. The factory-unlocked variant of the Galaxy Z Fold 5 is getting the new update with firmware version F946U1UES2BXAD, and it is available on Bluegrass Cellular, Comcast, C-Spire, Metro PCS, T-Mobile, Verizon, and Xfinity Mobile networks. Both these foldable smartphones could get new software features with the One UI 6.1 update that could be released after a few months. Since these updates contain just the February 2024 security patch, their download size is relatively small. You can check for the new update on your USA variant of the Galaxy Z Flip 5 or Galaxy Z Fold 5 by opening the Settings app, navigating to Software update, and tapping Download and install. Alternatively, you can download the appropriate firmware file from our firmware database and flash it manually.
