Samsung has started rolling out the September 2023 security update to its newest foldable phones: Galaxy Z Flip 5 and Galaxy Z Fold 5. Earlier today, the new security update was also released to the Galaxy Z Flip 3, Galaxy Z Flip 4, Galaxy Z Fold 3, and the Galaxy Z Fold 4 in Europe.
The latest software update for the Galaxy Z Flip 5 comes bearing firmware version F731BXXU1AWI3, while the Galaxy Z Fold 5 is getting the update with firmware version F946BXXU1AWI3. The update is available in most European countries, and it brings the September 2023 security patch that fixes over 60 security vulnerabilities found in the previous firmware. The update is around 400MB in size.
If you have a Galaxy Z Flip 5 or Galaxy Z Fold 5 and live in Europe, you can now check for the new update by heading over to Settings » Software update and tapping Download and install. You can also download the new firmware file from our firmware database and flash it manually.
This is the first software update the Galaxy Z Flip 5 and the Galaxy Z Fold 5 are getting in some countries, as they launched just a month ago. They debuted with Android 13-based One UI 5.1.1 onboard. Samsung is expected to update them to Android 14-based One UI 6 before the end of this year.
