Samsung has added the option to use Galaxy AI wallpapers on the Galaxy Z Flip 5 cover screen with the One UI 6.1.1 update. Galaxy AI came to the Galaxy Z Flip 5 earlier this year with the One UI 6.1 update, and while Galaxy AI wallpapers were part of the feature list, they could only be used on the main display.

Samsung addressed this limitation with the Galaxy Z Flip 6 and One UI 6.1.1, and now that the new version of One UI is available for Galaxy Z Flip 5 users, they can use Galaxy AI wallpapers on both the cover screen and the foldable display.

That's not all: One UI 6.1.1 also adds support for wallpapers in Always On Display mode on the Z Flip 5 cover screen. However, as is the case on the Galaxy Z Flip 6, the Flip 5 can only show wallpapers in AOD mode for five seconds.

AOD wallpapers also require AOD to be set to the Tap to show setting. To enable the feature, navigate to the phone's Settings » Lock screen and AOD » Always On Display menu. More details are available here.

To create Galaxy AI wallpapers for the cover screen, navigate to the phone's Settings » Cover screen menu, tap the Add new button, and select Generative under the Create with AI section. Wallpaper generation here works the same way as it does for the main display.

One UI 6.1.1 for the Galaxy Z Flip 5 is rolling out globally this week. To download it, navigate to the Software update menu in the phone's Settings app and tap Download and install. The latest version of One UI is also available for other Galaxy devices launched in 2023, including the Galaxy S23 series and the Galaxy Z Fold 5.
