The Galaxy Z Flip 5 is joining the Galaxy S24, S24+, S24 Ultra, and S24 FE on the list of flagship Galaxy smartphones that have received Samsung's October 2024 security update.
The update is rolling out to the Galaxy Z Flip 5 in Europe. Other regions should get it soon. In Europe, the update can be identified by the build number F731BXXS3DXI9.
The latest Galaxy Z Flip 5 update brings the October 2024 security patch to the year-old clamshell foldable. The October patch fixes 42 software security vulnerabilities, 12 of which affect only Galaxy smartphones and tablets. The rest affect the security of all Android devices.
The patch also fixes a vulnerability on Galaxy devices powered by select Exynos processors. Naturally, this particular fix is not needed on the Flip 5 or any foldable Galaxy smartphone as they are all powered exclusively by Snapdragon chips.
The update is devoid of any other changes or improvements. If you own a Galaxy Z Flip 5, download the update over the air by hitting the Download and install button in the phone's Settings » Software update menu. You can download Galaxy Z Flip 5 firmware from SamMobile as well.
The Galaxy Z Flip 5 has received the latest security update before the Galaxy Z Flip 6, but Samsung likely won't take long to address that.
