Galaxy Z Flip 6 lacks support for Samsung DeX

The Galaxy Z Flip 6 doesn't support Samsung DeX, the feature that can turn Galaxy phones and tablets into a workstation with a desktop-like interface that can be projected to external displays such as TVs and smart monitors.

That's despite Samsung addressing what it said was the reason why no Galaxy Z Flip smartphone has DeX when the Flip 5 was launched in 2023: insufficient heat dissipation.

Galaxy Z Flip 6 has better cooling and performance but still lacks DeX support

The Galaxy Z Flip 6 is the first phone in the lineup that comes equipped with a vapor chamber cooling system. That vapor chamber is 150% bigger than the vapor chamber in the Galaxy S23 Ultra, so temperatures on the the Flip 6 can be controlled much better than any previous model.

The Flip 6 also doesn't lack power. It comes with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip and 12GB of RAM as standard. Despite all that, Samsung hasn't added DeX support. It means that customers will not have access to one of the few features that can take proper advantage of the increased performance and cooling capabilities.

It's disappointing, to say the very least. Some Flip 6 buyers may feel like they have been shortchanged, especially when taking the $100 increase in price into account (no pun intended).

It's unclear why the Flip 6 doesn't support DeX, though it's likely because despite the upgraded cooling system, the Flip 6 is too compact to handle the heat generated by 8K video recording.
