Samsung will launch three new foldable phones next month: the Galaxy Z Flip 8, Galaxy Z Fold 8, and Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra. While the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra are expected to use the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy processor globally, the Galaxy Z Flip 8 will reportedly use an Exynos chip in some regions and a Snapdragon chip in others.
A new report from The Bell has revealed which countries and regions will get the Exynos version of the Galaxy Z Flip 8. According to the report, Samsung has decided to equip the Galaxy Z Flip 8 with the 2nm Exynos 2600 processor in Europe (including the UK) and South Korea.
This means customers in all other regions, including North America, South America, Asia (excluding South Korea), and Australia, will get the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy variant of the Galaxy Z Flip 8.
Apparently, this move is aimed at maintaining profitability amid rising smartphone component costs, especially memory chip prices. Moreover, Samsung's foundry business (Samsung Foundry) and chip design division (System LSI), both of which reported losses last year, could return to profitability this year.
The Exynos 2600 is fabricated using Samsung Foundry’s 2nm process and features a new technology called Heat Path Block (HPB), which helps keep the chip cooler than earlier Exynos processors. Its GPU performance is also among the best in its class.
The chip has already been used in the Galaxy S26 and Galaxy S26+ in select regions and has been found to be significantly more efficient than previous Exynos chips while offering performance that is nearly on par with competing MediaTek and Snapdragon processors.
The Galaxy Z Flip 8 is reportedly equipped with a foldable OLED display that has a less visible crease. It is expected to deliver better performance thanks to its newer processor, whether powered by Exynos or Snapdragon, along with improved battery life. However, its camera hardware is expected to remain largely unchanged from the Galaxy Z Flip 7.
It will have the similarly sized screen and battery as its predecessor. Its wired (25W) and wireless (15W) charging speeds as well as cameras (50MP+12MP rear and 10MP front) will also remain the same as the Galaxy Z Flip 7. It is powered by a 4,300mAh battery.
The phone will run Android 17-based One UI 9.0 software out of the box and come with a promise of seven generations of Android OS updates.
