As much as Samsung is trying to plug the leaks before Galaxy Unpacked, they're still happening, albeit perhaps at a slower rate than before. The latest leak concerns the Galaxy Z Flip 5 and the Galaxy Z Fold 5. More specifically, the official ring cases for the two upcoming foldable phones.
According to the renders below (via @evanblass / Android Authority), the cases have some similarities but aren't entirely alike across the two upcoming phone models. For example, the Galaxy Z Fold 5 case has a dual-tone color scheme, with one half being black and the other half transparent.
In contrast, the Galaxy Z Flip 5 case is transparent all around, except for the raised black frame surrounding the cover screen. It also seems like the Z Flip 5 case doesn't surround the camera, whereas the Z Fold 5 case provides full camera protection.
Another rendition of the Clear Gadget Case?
The Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Z Flip 5 cases bring memories of the Clear Gadget Case for the Galaxy S23 series. However, the latter has a rectangular finger holder rather than a circular one, and this element can rotate to turn into a kickstand in both portrait and landscape modes.
It is possible for this ring case for the upcoming foldable phones to have a rotating ring for a kickstand. But what made the Galaxy S23 Clear Gadget Case unique was its optional attachments. The clever system allowed users to stick different gadgets to the S23 case, including a camera stand (complete with a shutter button).
Unfortunately, it's hard to tell if these silicon wraps for the Galaxy Z Flip 5 and Fold 5 are regular Ring Cases or if they have characteristics similar to the Galaxy S23 Clear Gadget Case. And if the two are similar, will the foldable phone Gadget Cases require their own set of accessories? Or will they support the optional gadgets already released for the Galaxy S23 case?
We should find out soon enough. For now, at the very least, these new renders gave us another look at the Galaxy Z Flip 5 and Z Fold 5 before Unpacked. Samsung will host the launch event in Korea on July 26.
Prospective buyers can already reserve one of the upcoming Galaxy products with no strings attached, but if they decide to pre-order after July 26, they'll get a $50 Samsung Credit reward.
