Samsung's newest foldable phones, the Galaxy Z Flip 8, Galaxy Z Fold 8, and Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra, have launched in 109 markets worldwide. The phones were announced at a Galaxy Unpacked event on July 22, 2026, and became available for preorder the same day in select countries.
These new foldables have received a strong response from buyers globally.
In South Korea, preorders were 38% higher than those for last year's models. In Europe and the US, Samsung says preorders were 20% and 30% higher, respectively.
In India, the new lineup received 271,000 preorders in just 72 hours, a milestone the Galaxy Z Flip 7 and Galaxy Z Fold 7 took 15 days to reach.
The Galaxy Z Flip 8 brings a slightly thinner and lighter design, faster performance, and slightly longer battery life. It also has a more feature-rich cover display that lets users run any app without too many workarounds.
It comes in four colors: Cream, Graphite, Mint, and Pink.
The Galaxy Z Fold 8 is the most interesting of the three phones because of its wider form factor. It has a 5.5-inch cover display with a 10:16 aspect ratio, while its 7.6-inch inner foldable display has a 4:3 aspect ratio. Together, these displays and their aspect ratios in landscape and portrait orientations make the Galaxy Z Fold 8 a versatile device for content consumption.
Despite having two screens and a large 4,800mAh battery, the Galaxy Z Fold 8 is just 9.7mm thin when folded and weighs only 201g. It supports 20W wireless charging and 45W fast wired charging.
Samsung's flagship foldable smartphone this year is the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra. It has a 6.5-inch cover display and an 8-inch inner foldable screen.
It also has two 10MP front-facing cameras, one for each display. On the rear, it has the best camera setup of the three new foldable phones, featuring a 200MP primary camera, a 50MP ultrawide camera with autofocus, and a 10MP telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom.
The Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra is 8.9mm thin and weighs 215g. It is powered by a 5,000mAh battery and supports 20W wireless charging and 45W fast wired charging.
The Galaxy Z Flip 8 is equipped with the Exynos 2600 processor, except in China and North America, where it uses the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy chip.
The Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra exclusively use the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy processor worldwide.
The Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra each come in four colors. The Galaxy Z Fold 8 is available in Cream, Graphite, Lavender, and Pistachio. The Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra comes in Cream, Graphite, Green Shadow, and Violet Shadow.
The Galaxy Z Flip 8 has a starting price of $1,199 before taxes, while the Galaxy Z Fold 8 starts at $1,900 before taxes in the US. The Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra has a starting price of $2,100 before taxes. Prices vary by country.
