The barrage of June 2023 security updates for Samsung's smartphones continues this week, with the company now updating the original Galaxy Z Flip and the Galaxy Z Fold 2 with the latest security fixes.
Both devices are receiving the June 2023 update in the United Kingdom, with the firmware version being bumped up to F700FXXUCJWF1 and F916BXXU3JWE7 for the Flip and Fold 2 respectively. The firmware versions suggest the updates pack more than just security fixes, but a changelog is unavailable right now so we can't say what else is new (we'll update this article once we do).
But we do have details on the June 2023 security patch. In the core Android OS, the patch fixes three critical vulnerabilities and a slew of high-risk vulnerabilities. For Samsung devices, the patch includes fixes for 11 security flaws, including flaws found in Galaxy devices running Android 11, Android 12, and Android 13 and devices powered by Exynos chipsets.
The latest update for the Galaxy Z Flip and the Galaxy Z Fold 2 can be expected to make its way to markets other than the UK before the month is over, though Galaxy Z Flip owners might have to wait longer than Z Fold 2 owners as the latter is a newer device that is eligible for monthly security updates while the Z Flip gets one every three months.
To download the update on your Z Flip or Z Fold 2, open the phone's Settings app, select Software update, and tap Download and install. You can also upgrade your phone using firmware files available in our archive, though you will need a Windows PC if you opt for this method.
