The Galaxy Z Flip was one of the first devices to get the January 2023 security patch. However, back then, Samsung rolled out the update only to the international LTE and the 5G variants of the device. Today, the company is making the January 2023 security patch available for the carrier-locked version of the Galaxy Z Flip (SM-F700U) in the US.
The new update for the carrier-locked version of the Galaxy Z Flip in the US bumps the phone’s firmware version to F700USQS5HWA1. The January 2023 security patch fixes over fifty issues related to security. The update is available for the devices running on Sprint’s network. Devices on other networks should also get the update in the next few days.
If your Galaxy Z Flip hasn’t notified you about the latest update yet, you can check for it manually by navigating to Settings » Software Update and clicking Download and install. You can also download the update from our firmware section and install it manually using Samsung Odin. But do so only if you are 100% sure about the risks involved in it.
Since the Galaxy Z Flip is a high-end phone, Samsung promised to offer three OS updates to the device, and it has already rolled out those three updates. The phone was launched with Android 10, and it is currently running Android 13 (One UI 5.0), which was its last update. The phone will, however, receive security updates till 2025.
