The speed at which Samsung is rolling out software updates for its phones is commendable. The Galaxy Z Flip, which is a three-year-old phone, has already started getting the One UI 5.1 update. It is Samsung's latest software update that brings various new features to the foldable phone.
The One UI 5.1 update for the Galaxy Z Flip comes with firmware version F700FXXUAJWAD. It also brings the February 2023 security patch that fixes over four dozen privacy and security vulnerabilities. The update is rolling out in Australia right now, and we expect it to roll out in other countries within the next few days.
If you are a Galaxy Z Flip user in Australia, you can install the One UI 5.1 update on your phone by navigating to Settings » Software update and tapping Download and install. You can also download the new firmware file from our firmware database and flash it manually.
Galaxy Z Flip One UI 5.1 update: What's new?
The One UI 5.1 update brings improvements to all the stock Samsung apps. The Camera app offers an easier way to change the selfie color tone. The Gallery app has improved search, allowing you to search for images with a particular person by clicking on the face. You can view an image or video's EXIF information by swiping up that image in the Gallery app.
There are more options and features in the Modes And Routines app, including touch sensitivity, wallpaper, and ringtone. Samsung Internet has improved search, offering matching search terms in both bookmarks and history. The Weather app shows all the important information in the first view, along with an hourly precipitation graph and a new dynamic widget.
One UI 5.1 also brings two new battery widgets that display the battery charge levels of the phone and connected accessories. The media output picker now displays Wi-Fi-enabled speakers, such as Chromecast-compatible devices.
Update: The Galaxy Z Flip 5G has also received One UI 5.1 through firmware version F707BXXU7JWAD.
