Samsung's Android 13 rollout speed has been phenomenal, to say the least. Three weeks ago, the international version of the Galaxy Z Fold 2 started getting the Android 13 update. Now, the US variant of the Galaxy Z Fold 2 has started getting the update.
The Android 13-based One UI 5.0 update for the Galaxy Z Fold 2's carrier-unlocked version is rolling out in the US. It bears firmware version F916U1UEU2IVK5 and includes the December 2022 security patch. Right now, the update is rolling out on Comcast, Verizon, and Xfinity Mobile's network in the US. Other carrier networks could soon get the update as well.
If you are a Galaxy Z Fold 2 user with a carrier-unlocked version in the US, you can now install the Android 13 update. You can do that by navigating to Settings » Software update and tapping Download and install. You can also download the new firmware file from our database and flash it manually.
Galaxy Z Fold 2 Android 13 update: What's new?
The Android 13 update brings per-app language settings, a refreshed UI design with the expanded Color Palette feature, dynamic app icons (Material You), stacked widgets, a simplified Settings app with the merged Privacy & Security section, and the new Connected Devices menu.
Samsung has introduced the OCR feature that can identify and extract text from images stored on the phone or from the live camera feed. This feature is integrated into the stock Camera, Gallery, and Samsung Keyboard apps. Samsung has also improved animation smoothness and overall performance.
