The Galaxy Z Fold 3, which was launched in the second half of 2021, did not bring many improvements over its predecessor. It had the same screens, cameras, connectivity, and charging speeds. In fact, Samsung reduced the battery capacity slightly. However, the Galaxy Z Fold 4 might bring some crucial improvements.
According to tipster Dohyun Kim, the Galaxy Z Fold 4 will bring a completely new primary camera sensor. The upcoming foldable phone, which will launch in the second half of this year, is rumored to feature a 108MP primary camera. It could be the same 1/1.33-inch camera sensor used in the Galaxy S22 Ultra. If this information is correct, the Galaxy Z Fold 4 could offer a meaningful improvement in image quality.
Another tipster, @chunvn888, claimed that the Galaxy Z Fold 4's rear-facing camera setup would feature the same 108MP primary and 12MP ultrawide cameras as the Galaxy S22 Ultra. The foldable phone will reportedly miss out on the periscope camera, though. So, it may use the vanilla Galaxy S22's 10MP telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom.
Apart from upgraded cameras, the Galaxy Z Fold 4 is also expected to feature the yet-unannounced Snapdragon 8 Gen 1+ chipset built on TSMC's 4nm process. The foldable phone is also said to be thinner and lighter than the Galaxy Z Fold 3. It is rumored that the phone won't have a built-in S Pen slot.
