Yesterday, Samsung released the January 2023 security patch to the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and the Galaxy Z Flip 3. Today, the company is rolling out the same security update to their successors, the Galaxy Z Fold 4 and the Galaxy Z Flip 4. The update is currently rolling out the carrier-unlocked variants of the device in the US.
The latest update for the Galaxy Z Fold 4 (SM-F936U1) carries firmware version F936U1UES1BWA2. The update for the Galaxy Z Flip 4 (SM-F721U1) has firmware version F721U1UES1BWA2. These new updates bring January 2023 security patch which contains fixes for more than fifty security issues. The update for the Galaxy Z Fold 4 is rolling out to devices on MetroPCS, T-Mobile, and Tracfone. The update for the Galaxy Z Flip 4 is rolling out to devices on Dish, MetroPCS, T-Mobile, and Tracfone.
Other variants of the two devices should also get the latest security update in the next few days. You also have the option to download the update from our firmware section and install it manually.
Earlier this week, we learned that the Galaxy Z Fold 4 and the Galaxy Z Flip 4 would get an Android 13-based One UI 5.1 update. The new software will debut with the launch of the Galaxy S23 series on February 1, 2023. So, you can expect One UI 5.1 to roll out to the Galaxy Z Fold 4 and the Galaxy Z Flip 4 a few weeks after that.
