We recently compared the camera performance of the Galaxy Z Flip 4 and the Galaxy S22 side-by-side, with surprising results. Now we're moving on to the pricier Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Galaxy S22 Ultra for a new camera comparison video, which you can watch below.
For our latest video, we compared the Galaxy Z Fold 4 and S22 Ultra across different categories, including landscape and selfie photos during daylight and at night, as well as video recording. Here's a quick summary, but we encourage you to watch the video below for many more details.
Galaxy Z Fold 4 vs Galaxy S22 Ultra: Mobile photography
The Galaxy S22 Ultra has an inherent advantage in the telephoto camera department because it has a dedicated periscope shooter with 10x optical zoom capabilities. However, even at 3x optical zoom (which the Galaxy Z Fold 4 can achieve), the S22 Ultra appears to offer a higher image quality.
In terms of ultrawide photography during day time, the Galaxy S22 Ultra seemingly produces sharper and more detailed images, while the Galaxy Z Fold 4 delivers better shadow details and more vibrant colors. The results are somewhat similar to what we saw in our recent Z Flip 4 vs S22 comparison.
In fact, this difference in the way the two camera systems work is noticeable in more areas. Generally speaking, the Galaxy Z Fold 4 camera appears to reproduce more vibrant colors, while the Galaxy S22 Ultra tends to offer clearer images with less noise.
This is also true for landscape photography at night, where the Galaxy S22 Ultra shines compared to the Z Fold 4. As for video recording, results are similar, with one of the biggest downsides for the Galaxy Z Fold 4 being that it can't record 4K 60fps videos through the ultrawide sensor. Samsung could probably rectify this through a firmware update, but it might not.
