The Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5 are one step closer to the official Android 14 One UI 6 update, as Samsung has released a new One UI 6 beta update for its latest foldables. The update started rolling out earlier today, November 8, and fixes bugs and improves overall software stability.
Bug fixes and improved stability are the only things mentioned in the changelog, but for the Galaxy Z Flip 5, the update also reportedly brings back animations for the cover screen widgets. The latest beta also includes the November 2023 security patch, which Samsung detailed earlier this week and has also been rolling out to Galaxy devices running Android 13.
This is the fifth beta update for the two foldables, but will it be the last? Samsung released nine beta builds for the Galaxy S23 series before rolling out the stable update, but it apparently needed more work as Samsung seems to have halted its rollout for the time being, so it's possible the Fold 5 and Flip 5 will need a few more betas as well.
The fifth beta update comes with firmware version ZWK5 and is available in all countries where the beta program is offered. You can download it from the phone's Settings » Software update menu. As always, remember to back up important data so you don't lose them if things go askew and you have to factory reset the device to make it work again.
