The Galaxy Z Fold 5 was unveiled late last month and it may feel underwhelming at first glance, particularly when compared to the Galaxy Z Flip 5, the clamshell foldable that accompanied it at Unpacked on July 26.

There are fewer big-ticket items on the Galaxy Z Fold 5 when you compare it to its clamshell sibling. However, there's one aspect that many customers should also consider when making their purchase decision, and it's the fact that the Galaxy Z Fold 5 is the personification of Samsung's obsession with customer satisfaction.

Story continues after the video

Customer satisfaction was at the top of mind for the Galaxy Z Fold 5

It's safe to say that Samsung has kickstarted the foldable smartphone revolution. The company released the first foldable phone, the original Galaxy Fold, in 2019. While many thought it may be a passing fad, that didn't turn out to be the case. With every iteration Samsung has continued to elevate the foldable lineup.

Durability has been one of the biggest concerns that customers have had about foldable phones. It's understandable. The foldable panels are comparatively more fragile, the hinge has a lot of moving parts that could fail, earlier models didn't even have water resistance and dust resistance is still missing.

Samsung has gradually been addressing all of those concerns. It eventually brought water resistance to its entire foldable lineup and is also hard at work to ensure dust resistance in future models. The new hinge on the Galaxy Z Fold 5 has fewer moving parts and almost eliminates the panel gap as well, thereby improving durability.

The foldable panels have been further strengthened with a new shock absorption layer that reduces the possibility of damage upon impact. It uses the latest and strongest cover glass for the outer panels in every iteration while manufacturing the device around an armor aluminium chassis for best-in-class durability.

This consistent improvement is a result of Samsung's deep regard for customer satisfaction. It understood the fact that most Galaxy Z Fold 4 customers had made it their first foldable phone because they finally had confidence in its durability and completeness. Samsung has only improved it even more with the Galaxy Z Fold 5.

The company realized that customers wanted a thinner and a lighter Galaxy Z Fold device and it has followed through on that expectation. The Galaxy Z Fold 5 delivers true flagship-level hardware in a beautifully designed package that boasts durability few, if any, other foldables can match.

That alone should be reason enough to buy the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and with delivers scheduled to begin on August 11, you won't have to wait for long to get your hands on it!
