Samsung hasn't officially announced the Galaxy Z Fold 5 yet, but this hasn't stopped tipsters on social media from discussing the Galaxy Z Fold 6 already. The Korean tech giant may or may not have a rough idea of what the Galaxy Z Fold 6 will look like and what hardware components it could be using a year from now. And some of this information appears to have reached the Twitter sphere.
Take this with a grain of salt for good measure, but according to Twitter tipster @Tech_Reve, whose track record isn't flawless, the Galaxy Fold 6 will bring more significant changes compared to its predecessor than the Galaxy Z Fold 5 does next to the Z Fold 4.
The source claims that the Galaxy Z Fold 6 will use the same image sensor as the Z Fold 5. The latter supposedly has a 50MP primary camera. But as far as the design is concerned, the Galaxy Z Fold 6 may borrow a page from Google's playbook, which should be a more interesting development.
Samsung might “Googlefy” the Galaxy Z Fold 6
For what it's worth, the tipster says that the Galaxy Z Fold 6's major upgrade will consist of a change in the aspect ratio for the cover screen. Although, logic dictates that a change in the aspect ratio of one display will lead to a change in the aspect ratio of another — assuming Samsung won't adopt thick top and bottom bezels for the inner foldable screen like Google has for its first foldable.
We're guessing this “change” means the Galaxy Z Fold 6 may have a wider cover screen rather than a narrower one. Otherwise, Samsung would be backtracking its design. Google's first foldable phone, the Pixel Fold, also has a wider aspect ratio than Samsung's foldable phone, so let's just say it's not outside the realm of possibility that Samsung will borrow some design ideas from its partner and make the Galaxy Z Fold 6 wider.
Keep in mind that the Galaxy Z Fold 5 is not even out yet, so anything could happen between now and next year when Samsung will supposedly release the Z Fold 6. Designs and decisions can change in a year, and likely, Samsung is still experimenting with concepts and ideas for the next-gen 2024 model. In the meantime, let's look forward to the Galaxy Z Fold 5, which Samsung should unveil next month at Unpacked in South Korea.
