Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Fold 5 get October security update

Last updated: October 10th, 2024 at 10:04 UTC+02:00

Samsung's latest Galaxy Z Fold smartphone and its predecessor are beginning to receive the October 2024 security update in some countries. The Galaxy Z Fold 5 is getting the update in Europe while the Galaxy Z Fold 6 is getting the update in both Europe and the USA.

The October 2024 update also started rolling out to the Galaxy Z Flip 5 earlier today, so we assume it will soon be out for the Galaxy Z Flip 6 as well.

Or at least we hope so. As the latest models on the market, the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6 should be getting software updates before older devices, but unfortunately that hasn't been the reality thus far (though it's not Samsung's fault, more details at this link).

You can identify the Galaxy Z Fold 6 update by the build number F956BXXS1AXI3 or F956USQS1AXIB depending on where you are. The Galaxy Z Fold 5's update can be identified by the build number F946BXXS3DXI9.

These updates don't bring Android 15/One UI 7 or any other interesting changes. All they bring are the latest security fixes from Google and Samsung.

To download the latest update on your Galaxy Z Fold 6 or Fold 5, navigate to its Settings » Software update menu and hit Download and install. Alternatively, download the latest firmware from our archives (Galaxy Z Fold 6 | Fold 5) and install it on the phone over a wired USB connection on a Windows computer.
