Contrary to everyone's expectations, sales of the Galaxy Z Fold 8 have actually increased since the launch of Apple's first foldable phone, the iPhone Duo. While this might seem puzzling at first, there is a logical reason behind it.

According to a report from South Korea, sales of the Galaxy Z Fold 8 jumped 20% over the past week following the iPhone Duo's debut. This surge is attributed to quality control controversies surrounding Apple's foldable. After reports and videos surfaced showing multiple instances of the iPhone Duo's screen breaking, prospective buyers reportedly decided to purchase the Galaxy Z Fold 8 instead.

The Galaxy Z Fold 8 had already experienced strong demand at launch, racking up over 1.44 million pre-orders during its first week in South Korea. The phone has also seen substantial sales growth in other markets compared to the Galaxy Z Fold 7.

Capitalizing on this momentum, Samsung expanded several retail promotions, including extending its New Galaxy AI Subscription Club past its original late-October deadline through November. The program offers a guaranteed residual value of up to 50% for customers on a one-year plan, 40% on a two-year plan, and 25% after three years upon returning the device.

Club members also receive discounts on Samsung Care+ coverage and accessory bundles. Additionally, customers trading in their old phones via Mintit ATMs throughout November can receive up to an extra KRW 100,000 on top of the standard trade-in valuation.
