Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8
It would be reasonable to expect that the Galaxy Z Fold 8 sales might see some pressure following the iPhone Duo being unveiled. That hasn't turned out to be the case, at least in South Korea.
Here's something that Samsung will be very happy about. It appears that customers who preferred waiting until Apple launched the iPhone Duo to decide which foldable they will buy ultimately ended up buying the Galaxy Z Fold 8.
Korean media reports that Samsung's Galaxy Z Fold 8 sales have increased by 10% over the previous week. Industry analysts suggest that some customers who were waiting to see what Apple came out with decided to go with Samsung's foldable.
It's possible that after comparing the weight and thickness of both devices, and the iPhone Duo's higher 3.29 million or $2,390 won price point felt that the Galaxy Z Fold 8 was the better option.
It doesn't hurt that Samsung offers the cheapest Galaxy Z Fold 8 price in its home country, where the device starts at 2.28 million won or around $1,550. The Galaxy Z Fold 8 is also thinner and lighter than the iPhone Duo.
Those customers also don't have to wait to buy the Galaxy Z Fold 8 as it's immediately available. The iPhone Duo won't be released in South Korea until October 16.
Given some of the obvious benefits that the Galaxy Z Fold 8 has over the iPhone Duo, and the fact that this device won't be released in other markets for about a month as well, perhaps Samsung could utilize promotions to win over customers who just don't want to wait.
