Last month, folks at Android Authority were able to activate a button for Gemini in the Gmail app for Android. It allowed them to access the full version of the chatbot in the email client which they could use for a number of tasks, including summarizing emails. According to a new report from the publication, the latest version of the Gmail app for Android (version 2024.05.26.638440827) brings new features to that button.
Now when you click on the Gemini button, the pop-up for Gemini offers you quick prompts or suggestions for the tasks that you could ask Gemini to perform. At the moment, it gives you three quick prompts: Summarize this email, List the next steps, and Suggest a reply. Clicking on each button will perform the respective task. These suggestions make it even easier to take Gemini’s help with reading and writing emails in Gmail.
Currently, there’s no information about when Google will make the new button available to the public. Considering the pace at which Google is adding Gemini to its service, it shouldn’t take long for the brand to activate the new feature in the Gmail app for Android.
