Google AI is coming soon to compete with Galaxy AI

Samsung was the first smartphone brand to launch a comprehensive suite of AI features called Galaxy AI. It debuted earlier this year on the Galaxy S24 and made it to some older high-end Galaxy phones a few months later. Now, Google is bringing its Galaxy AI rival.

Google AI could debut on Pixel 9, ready to take on Galaxy AI

While Pixel phones have had AI features for a few years, a new report from Android Authority reveals that Google will offer several new AI features under the Google AI branding on the Pixel 9.

It will include some existing and some new features. Circle to Search and Gemini are the two features that are available on Pixel phones already but are now listed under Google AI. The three completely new Google AI features include Add Me, Pixel Screenshots, and Studio.

Add Me’s description says that it makes sure everyone is in a group photo so that no one misses out. It appears to be an improved version of the existing Best Take feature. It likely merges different group photos to make sure each and every person in the group appears in the image.

Pixel Screenshots is a really interesting feature that resembles Microsoft’s Recall feature that was announced last month. It analyzes screenshots saved on your phone to find useful information in them. When this feature is turned on, a Pixel device will save relevant text and URLs in those screenshots. It also saves the app names and when the screenshot was captured.

Thankfully, this feature respects your privacy (compared to Microsoft’s Recall feature in Windows 11) and doesn’t automatically take screenshots of everything you are doing. It only extracts information from the screenshots you capture manually and uses on-device AI to process data.

The Studio feature in Google AI appears to be an all-in-one app that uses AI to generate stickers, images, wallpapers, and more based on text inputs from a user.

More AI features coming to Galaxy AI

Samsung’s recent high-end phones already have an AI Wallpaper Generator, Generative AI-powered image editing, and Circle to Search. However, it is missing features similar to Google AI’s Add Me and Pixel Screenshots.

The story continues after the video…

Some reports claim that Samsung is working on an AI image generator that can create better versions of rough drawings and sketches you make using an S Pen. This feature will likely debut with One UI 6.1.1 on the Galaxy Z Fold 6 next week.
