It was reported last month that Google is prepping the Google Photos watch face for the Wear OS watches. It would allegedly allow users to set single or multiple personal photos as their watch faces. Well, we now have our first look at not only the Google Photos watch face but also the first look at the Google Home and the Personal Safety app.

Speaking of the Google Photos watch face (via Mishaal Rahman), you can set your photos that will have a circular crop based on the design of the watch. There are two configurations that can be added on top of the watch face: date/day and time. Apparently, the Google Photos watch face for the Pixel Watch resembles the Android 12 lockscreen. Notably, Google Photos will also give users the ability to cycle through the selected images throughout the day. It could come to the Galaxy Watch 4 and Galaxy Watch 5 series, too.

Google Home app will be great for anyone who uses Google ecosystem products

The Google Home for the Wear OS has a card list design, with smart home devices listed inside a rounded rectangle. The rectangle also includes an icon, background color, device name, and room name. You will be able to easily increase or decrease the temperature and adjust the brightness using the “+” and “-” buttons. There is also a security notification of “Person seen” in one of the screenshots. Similar to the Google Photos watch face, there is no clarity if the Google Home will be exclusive to the Pixel Watch or if it will make its way to other Wear OS devices.

The shared screenshots also reveal a watch face named Pilot, which is the minimal mechanical watch face with enlarged 6/9/12 timings. There are two other watch faces named Ink and Pacific, of which we do not have a clear look. But it is clear that the Pixel Watch will be the first one to launch to gain these new features. Last but not the least, there is the screenshot of the Personal Safety app that would help you call a predefined emergency contact or service.

Google to follow Samsung’s lead by using custom chips for smartwatches

Qualcomm was way too slow in bringing advanced chips for smartwatches, and that is when Apple took a huge leap forward. Samsung didn't depend on Qualcomm and developed in-house Exynos chips for Galaxy Watches. While Google switched from Exynos to Snapdragon chips for second and third-generation Pixel Watches, it could switch to in-house chips in […]
