File sharing has always been easier on Android compared to iOS, but things got even easier with the launch of Nearby Share. For enterprises, though, easier file sharing isn't a boon. It could lead to data security issues for companies and enterprises, and Google has understood that and is making changes to Android.
It is being reported that Google is disabling Nearby Share by default on work profiles added on Android smartphones and tablets. Earlier, it wasn't easy to disable Nearby Share on Android phones through mobile device management tools. And employees could use the convenience of wireless file sharing to share sensitive information with others.
Samsung had found a workaround for disabling Nearby Share on work profiles, and that included disabling Bluetooth, location, or Wi-Fi to stop Nearby Share from working on Android phones. However, organizations don't need to depend on this hack as Google has introduced an official way to stop Nearby Share.
According to Google System updates documentation, Google has made a change to Nearby Share on Android work profiles. This is rolling out worldwide with the v23.41 update. Hopefully, Google will improve Nearby Share even further. Right now, Samsung's Quick Share feature works faster than Nearby Share.
