According to the latest report, Google Photos is receiving the Memories design revamp with added vertical swipe gestures. The feature was recently announced, and it will bring the look and feel of the story-inspired section on the top carousel of the Google Photos app that has been available on mobile and desktop since 2019.

The Memories section is now much cleaner and gets smooth vertical swipe gestures. Using the swipe gestures, you can easily switch between AI-generated images and video flipbooks, as noted by 9To5Google. The category title font on the Memories subtitles is now much bolder, with the photo detail at the bottom-left. It also includes subtitles and location details of the photo, where available. There is an X button at the top-left of the Memories that will let you quickly exit.

The enhanced collage editor is not a part of the arriving update for Google Photos

However, the vertical swipe now lets you cycle through your Memories instead of taking you back to the Google Photos main library view. Google also adds a zoom effect, giving you a parallax look with certain images. The background instrumental music is also coming with a future rollout for the app sometime in October. Currently, only the Google Photos UI and vertical scroll gesture features are live for the app on Android.

There is another feature called Shared Memories, which is now available with the latest update. This option lets you send any image collection to friends and family. Tapping the Shared Memories option will create a link that you can share with any contact or paste into an application of your choice.

This negates the need to individually download each image or video and send those in succession. Do note that the updated collage editor, which was a major part of the original announcement, is missing at the moment.
