As most of you might know, the Google Play Store on Android can download only one app at a time, even if your smartphone or tablet has enough processing power, storage speed, and network speed to download multiple apps simultaneously.
This limitation is quite frustrating when you buy a new Android device and download multiple apps as a part of setting up the device, especially when you compare it with the iOS App Store, which supports three concurrent app downloads and installs.
But things are changing. As spotted by 9To5Google, the Play Store on Android can now download up to two applications simultaneously. The latest change reduces the time required for downloading and installing multiple apps at once. The new feature seems to be live on Galaxy and Pixel devices running version 40.6.31 or a newer version of the Play Store.
Sadly, the Play Store still can’t update more than one app at a time, which is disappointing considering how many apps get updates daily. That being said, now that Google has enabled the Play Store to download multiple apps simultaneously, it could bring a similar upgrade to the process of app updates.
