Like the Galaxy S22 Ultra, the Galaxy S22+ comes with support for 45W super fast charging. The Galaxy S22 Ultra failed to impress us with its 45W charging speeds, but with the Galaxy S22+ sporting a smaller battery, we thought hey, maybe this phone will match Samsung’s claims of reaching 50% of charge in 20 minutes.
Well, we have now been able to test the Galaxy S22+ with both 45W charging and 25W charging, and there’s both good news and bad news. The good news is that the Galaxy S22+ did manage to reach 49% charge in 20 minutes, which is practically as good as what Samsung is claiming. The bad news? Overall 45W charging continues to be a “great if you have it, no problem if you don’t” affair.
Now, on our Galaxy S22 Ultra test, we got comments from many of our viewers about how Samsung’s newer 45W charger might charge the company's latest flagships faster, so we will be testing that one out whenever it’s in stock. However, we don’t really expect things to change. After all, the specs on the new charger seem to be unchanged from the old one, and it’s the circuit inside the phone that decides just how quickly it charges anyway.
In the meantime, check out the video below to see how the Galaxy S22+ fared at various time intervals with the “old” 45W charger and also Samsung's 25W charger.
