Samsung's smartwatches are equipped with a host of health and fitness tracking sensors that provide you with valuable data to stay on top of your physical and mental health. Recent iterations of the smartwatch have also come with sensors that help you keep an eye on your heart health.
The new Galaxy Watch 6 series also watches out for your heart health by measuring several data points. It then alerts you if there's a need to take an ECG measurement for further data, something that can also be done on the smartwatch itself.

Galaxy Watch 6 is always looking out for your heart
Both the Galaxy Watch 6 and the Galaxy Watch 6 Classic screen your heart rate in the background continuously. The smartwatch will send you an alert when it detects that the the heart rate is either abnormally high or very low.
If it finds that five or more results of the six consecutive measurements that it has taken are a sign of potential atrial fibrillation at 10-minute intervals, the watch will then notify you of irregular heart rhythm and suggest that you should take an ECG measurement.
The Galaxy Watch 6 and Watch 6 Classic are capable of taking ECG measurements as well, so this is something that you can accomplish on the smartwatch itself. However, the ECG functionality is limited so it may not be available in all countries.
It's pertinent to note that your smartwatch isn't a medical device and these readings should only be taken as a reference point. If you're diagnosed with or suspect potential issues with heart health, there's no replacement for proper medical evaluation and treatment. Those who buy the Galaxy Watch 6 can at least rest assured that the device is keeping an eye out, just in case.
