The August 2023 update is now available for a handful of foldable Galaxy phones, including the Galaxy Z Flip 3 and Z Flip 4, along with the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Z Fold 4. Unexpectedly, the first region to get the update is the USA.
Samsung is rolling out the August update for the Galaxy Z Flip 3 (SM-F711U1), Galaxy Z Flip 4 (SM-F721U1), Galaxy Z Fold 3 (SM-F926U1), and Galaxy Z Fold 4 (SM-F936U1). As you may have noticed by now, judging by the model numbers, the update is rolling out for the factory-unlocked foldable phones in the USA.
But there's one exception. As of this writing, the August 2023 update is available for the unlocked Galaxy Z Fold 3 only in Puerto Rico, where it carries firmware version F926U1UEU3FWF2.
The factory-unlocked Galaxy Z Fold 4 is getting the update in the USA through firmware version F936U1UES3CWG4. As for the Galaxy Z Flip 3 and Galaxy Z Flip 4, they're getting the update via firmware versions F711U1UES5FWG7 and F721U1UES3CWG4, respectively.
As of this writing, Samsung hasn't detailed the August 2023 security patch. The update has rolled out to the Galaxy S20 FE and Galaxy S23 prior to the foldable phones. We're also missing the changelogs for the foldable phones, but the firmware versions suggest that the phones, save for the Galaxy Z Fold 3, have received a standard security update rather than a feature patch.
Whichever foldable phone you happen to own, you can download the latest firmware version from our website if you prefer manual updates over a PC, or alternatively, you should be able to download the update by opening the Settings app on your phone, accessing “Software update,” and tapping “Download and install.”
