Even the most passionate Samsung aficionados will concede that its brand messaging often came down to “we're not Apple”. And while the latest ad for the Galaxy Z Fold 2 definitely belongs to that category, it's as much an homage to the iPhone maker as it is meant to be a cheeky parody of its marketing endeavors. At least, that's the vibe we're getting from the billboards featured herein.
We recently spotted this advertising in the immediate vicinity of one Apple Store in the Netherlands, but chances are, we're looking at the beginning of another international marketing campaign that highlights the innovative nature of the Galaxy Z Fold 2 by taking sly digs at Apple. So, definitely let us know if you see something similar in your area.
Samsung ready to take on the iPhone 12 directly
It's certainly no coincidence that the timing of the ad matches today's release of the iPhone 12, which will be Samsung's number one rival this fall. The Korean juggernaut appears to be well aware of that fact, especially now, as it's getting ready to conclude a pretty underwhelming year, sales-wise.
Be that as it may, Samsung had a decent head start in the high-end smartphone segment, especially when it comes to 5G devices, which is a category it completely dominated for over a year at this point. And while the Galaxy Z Fold 2 has pretty much no chance of becoming one of the best-selling smartphones of the year, it's a tempting proposition to consumers interested in the very best of what the tech industry has to offer. Which is a point that this newly spotted ad likely wants to drive home.
