Those leaked Galaxy Z Flip 5 renders missed this important detail

The CAD renders of the Galaxy Z Flip 5 were leaked over the weekend, giving us our first glimpse of Samsung's new clamshell foldable. The renders are in line with the rumors that we've heard about the device so far.

It's clear that the biggest change being made to this device is the larger cover display. However, the folder-like look of the cover display has been divisive for fans, which is understandable, but we believe the renders might be wrong.

On the Z Flip 5, Samsung needs to accommodate a larger cover display while also making sure there's enough space for a dual camera setup, and it's likely the company chose the folder-like design as a compromise to fit a larger display without increasing the overall footprint of the device.

Many fans weren't too excited about this new design when the renders first emerged. They make it seem that this folder cutout will be visible at all times. But it can be safe to assume that like the Galaxy Z Flip 4 and Flip 3, the Galaxy Z Flip 5 will have a black panel on the front. That would hide the display when it's not lit up, helping hide that folder-like cover display for those who aren't down with its look.

We had the video below made so that you can easily understand how that might work. Of course, until we see the actual device in action there's no way to know if the new cover display will be an eyesore like many think it does in those renders, but we don't think Samsung would lightly opt for such a design without thinking about how it will look in action.

Thankfully, all will be revealed a little sooner than expected, as the Galaxy Z Flip 5 launch could take place in late July, a little earlier than the launch of the Galaxy Z Flip 4 last year.
