The foldables are Samsung's most expensive smartphones. Why wouldn't they be. They're still a niche product, they use more expensive materials and the manufacturing process is more intensive as well.
However, price is also the biggest hurdle the company faces in trying to sell as many units as it possibly can. That's one of the reasons why Samsung decided to reduce the price of both upcoming foldable smartphones.
Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy Z Flip 3 will get impressive price cuts
We exclusively revealed not too long ago that the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy Z Flip 3 will be cheaper than their predecessors. Customers can expect a price cut of up to 20%. That's going to be a big reduction.
Since then, multiple reports have reiterated that these new foldables will be cheaper than the devices they replace. The question remains, though, how much will be the price cut? While an exact figure hasn't emerged as yet, the expected price range for the devices in South Korea has now surfaced.
Per reports, the Galaxy Z Fold 3 price will be finalized in the 1,900,000 – 1,999,000 KRW ($1,655 – $1,741) range. It's expected to be locked in closer to 1,999,000. The Galaxy Z Flip 3's range is said to be 1,200,000 – 1,280,000 KRW ($1,045 – $1,110) with it possibly being finalized closer to 1,200,000 KRW.
The Galaxy Z Fold 2 was priced at 2,398,000 KRW in South Korea at launch. The Galaxy Z Fold 3's expected price makes is almost 17% cheaper than its predecessor. The Galaxy Z Flip was 1,650,000 KRW at launch. At its expected price, the Galaxy Z Flip 3 will see an impressive 27% reduction.
Samsung is also expected to really push trade-in offers with the highest rates being offered for existing foldables. There's enough of them out there now for Samsung to seriously incentivize current Galaxy Z smartphone owners to upgrade.
How much the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy Z Flip 3 will cost in your country depends on many different factors. In any case, you can expect a decent price cut on the upcoming foldables. Now doesn't that sound like music to your ears?!
