It's almost as if not one day passes without a Galaxy smartphone or tablet getting a new firmware update. It's a testament to both Samsung's commitment to keeping its Galaxy devices updated and the company's rich product portfolio. There are tons of Galaxy models out there, and Samsung — although imperfect — is the best when it comes to releasing new firmware updates, beating even Google most of the time.
So, what's new on the menu today? Well, among other devices, the unlocked Galaxy Z Fold 2 (SM-F916U1) is now getting a new firmware update with the May 2022 security patch in the United States.
The update carries firmware version F916U1UES2GVD2 and shouldn't include anything new aside from the latest security patch. The latter got detailed by Samsung at the beginning of the month. It addresses security issues concerning apps like Weather, Galaxy Themes, and others.
Galaxy Z Fold 2 customers in the USA can download the update once the notification arrives, or they can trigger the process via the Settings app on their phones by accessing the “Software update” menu.
