Microsoft has been planning to launch the company’s own app store on Android and iOS for quite a while now. However, the brand hadn’t revealed a timeframe for when it would do so. Well, that has finally changed. At Bloomberg Technology Summit, Microsoft’s President for Xbox, Sara Bond, announced that Microsoft will launch the company’s own app store for Android and iOS in July 2024.
Interestingly, Microsoft’s app store for the two platforms will arrive as a website rather than an application, at least initially. According to Sara, with this approach, they will be able to make the app marketplace available globally more easily and quickly, as it will allow them to bypass the policies of brands and countries. Initially, Microsoft will offer first-party applications and games on the app store, including Candy Crush and Minecraft. Later, the company will open up the app marketplace to third-party developers.
