In October 2023, Qualcomm launched the Snapdragon X Elite, a processor with ARM-based CPU cores for Windows laptops that promises to crush the competition. While laptops with that chipset are yet to arrive on the market, now we have news that the American company is working on a more affordable version of that processor.
According to WinFuture, Qualcomm is working on two new processors that have model numbers X1P44100 and X1P46100. Now, the model number of the Snapdragon X Elite starts with X1E, where E stands for Elite. Considering that, the publication says that P in the model numbers of the new chipsets could stand for Plus. In other words, these two processors could be two variants of the Snapdragon X Plus.
WinFuture says that these processors could have 10 CPU cores instead of 12 in the Snapdragon X Elite. As such, these chipsets could be more affordable and make their way into cheaper laptops. Qualcomm is holding the Snapdragon Summit event in October, where the company will launch the Galaxy S25's Snapdragon 8 Gen 4. It’s possible that the brand could also launch Snapdragon X Plus at the event.
