Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra's rear-facing cameras
Samsung has recently been jacking up the prices for its Galaxy S26 series in most markets. Even its home country of South Korea, where Samsung typically offers the best prices for its products, saw hikes of up to $200 for this year's flagship series.
There may be more bad news on the horizon. It's expected that Samsung may increase the Galaxy S27 prices by up to $100 as its margins come under intense pressure due to rising memory costs.
Korean media is reporting that Samsung may raise the Galaxy S27 series prices by $75-$100 next year. It's unclear, though, whether this increase would be over and above the revised Galaxy S26 prices or that at launch.
There's only one reason why all of your gadgets are becoming more expensive. Companies like Samsung have to buy expensive memory chips, and the prices for this crucial component keep rising exponentially. Samsung's mobile division is already on track for an annual loss. Raising prices could help the division at least break even, if not a return to profitability.
The company is also looking at more drastic options to improve the financials of its mobile division. A recent report claims that it now expects to produce 30% fewer smartphones in the fourth quarter of this year compared to last year, mainly to reduce costs and sustain margins.
