The second One UI 5.0 beta update went live yesterday, and with it came a lengthy changelog featuring new additions, bug fixes, and a couple of known issues. Nevertheless, a few UI changes went by unmentioned, so without further ado, here's what else you can expect once you update to the latest beta version.
With the release of One UI 5.0 beta 2, Samsung brought back the old quick toggle layout in the quick toggle/notification area. The first One UI 5.0 beta changed the quick toggle layout from a width of six icons to five. Customers don't seem to have liked this change very much, so the second One UI 5.0 beta firmware brings back the six-icon-wide quick toggle layout.
Speaking of icons, system icons have also changed with the launch of One UI 5.0 beta 2. A few icons, like Calendar, Gallery, and My Files, have a white backdrop, and the icon for Samsung Messages has a rounder chat bubble. (via @TheNewsQH)
Not a beta user? One UI 5.0 might hit the public in October
If you're not a One UI 5.0 beta participant and don't have any plans to change this, you'll likely get access to the new icons in October. Rumor has it that Samsung wants to release the first stable One UI 5.0 firmware update on October 17 or 19.
Evidently, the Galaxy S22 series will be the first to get the update, seeing how Samsung is using this lineup for extensive beta testing. Other devices should join before the end of the year. We'll keep you posted.
