More rumblings about Exynos 2700 in the Galaxy S27 Ultra surface

A recent major Exynos 2700 leak suggested that the chipset would deliver performance gains over Qualcomm's competing chip, the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6.

This ultimately led to rumors that perhaps Samsung could use the Exynos 2700 in the Galaxy S27 Ultra. More rumblings about this possibility have now surfaced.

Korean media reports that many industry figures are of the view that Samsung will indeed use the Exynos 2700 for the Galaxy S27 Ultra. Even as Samsung switched from the Snapdragon to Exynos in other models, the Galaxy S Ultra phones have retained the Snapdragon chip.

One would have expected a similar arrangement for next year's Galaxy S27 series, but there's a growing view that even if there's no total shift, the Galaxy S27 Ultra could have the Exynos 2700 in select markets, such as South Korea. Other regions like North America could get the Snapdragon variant.

Such an arrangement would achieve two objectives for the company. It will help increase the share of Exynos in the global smartphone chipset market while also delivering cost efficiencies. Smartphone markers are already feeling the pinch due to rising memory costs.

With Qualcomm rumored to raise prices for its next-generation chipset, it stands to reason that Samsung might consider a switch to Exynos for the Ultra model as well just to keep its margins in check.

It's still early days, though, as we won't see the Galaxy S27 series until next year, so a lot can change between now and then.
