Samsung was among the very first Android smartphone manufacturers to launch 5G Android phones. The technology was initially introduced with its flagship smartphones. Over the past couple of years, Samsung has worked very hard to bring 5G to the masses.
It now offers entry-level devices like the Galaxy A13 5G that don't cost an arm and a leg yet still have 5G support. This laser-sharp focus on democratizing 5G has made Samsung the undisputed leader amongst 5G Android smartphone manufacturers, as highlighted in the latest data from Counterpoint Research.
Samsung's dominance in the 5G Android phone market is impressive
Data from the Counterpoint Research Handset Modle Sales Tracker shows that for the month of February 2022, Samsung occupied five positions in the list of the top 5G Android smartphones. The Galaxy A52s 5G clinched the top spot as it was the best-selling 5G Android phone in the world. This particular handset has actually been on this list for the past six consecutive months. It has done very well in the Western European markets.
It's followed by the Galaxy S22 Ultra, Galaxy S21 FE and the Galaxy A32 5G. Another Samsung device, the Galaxy A22 5G, has also made it on this list but it's down in 10th spot. The rest of the positions are filled by handsets from Chinese manufacturers like Oppo, Xiaomi and Honor. Clearly, they're not a match for Samsung yet.
Samsung's lead as the dominant 5G Android phone manufacturer may only be set to increase in the coming months. It has recently unveiled the Galaxy A53 5G and Galaxy A33 5G. Both are great devices with impressive specs and support for the next-gen network standard.
