After facing backlash for removing the old list of app permissions, Google Play brought it back. However, there is another Play Store change that basically removes the Android app version number from the app listing in the Play Store. Previously, you could easily see the latest version of the Android app by heading over to the “About this app” section and scrolling down to “App info.”
But now, with the new change, you cannot see the Android app version number listed in the App info section. According to 9To5Google, starting from today, you won't see “Version” and “Updated on” details. Do note that these important details are only missing on the Android phone version of the Google Play Store. However, you will find these crucial details on Play Store for Wear OS, Android TV, or Google TV apps.
Moreover, the app version still appears on the Google Play website. The issue isn't related to or impacts a specific list of apps that only notes “Varies with device.” All in all, it seems to be a bug since the app version is visible everywhere except on the Android phone version of Google Play. Whatever the case may be, it has made the App info section on the Play Store almost useless, as you cannot track the version number if the app has a buggy release and stay away from it.
