Samsung was expected to release the Android 15-based One UI 7.0 beta update yesterday, but that didn't happen. There appears to be a delay from Samsung's end, and we might have to wait a few weeks before we can get the next big version of One UI. The One UI 7.0 beta update is now expected to be released in August 2024.
One UI 7.0 beta update to be released in August 2024
According to the information we have received, the One UI 7.0 beta update will now be released in the third week of August 2024. The release has been delayed due to the One UI 6.1.1 update, which is due to be released to older foldable phones, tablets, and some high-end phones. The One UI 7.0 update is a huge update, as it will bring major UI design and UX changes compared to One UI 6.0.
The One UI 7.0 beta update will first be released to the Galaxy S24, Galaxy S24+, and Galaxy S24 Ultra. It might be released in South Korea first. Germany, India, the UK, and the USA. China might also get access to the update, but a few days after its initial release.
Samsung could also open the One UI 7.0 Beta Program for older high-end phones, such as the Galaxy S23, Galaxy S23+, and Galaxy S23 Ultra. It remains to be seen whether it will be opened for foldable phones.
What to expect from One UI 7.0?
With One UI 7.0, Samsung is bringing massive design changes, some of which have leaked over the past few days. There is a revamped Quick Panel, which has two pages: Quick Settings and Notifications. Notifications are now more rounded. The lock screen design has also been changed, and it now features a battery charging status pop-up and thicker lock screen shortcuts.
The app drawer now features a search bar (Finder) at the bottom, which improves one-handed usage. Samsung also appears to have changed the app icons for many of its stock apps, including Camera, Clock, Contacts, Gallery, Phone, and Samsung Internet. The new icons have better Material You theming.
Samsung has also designed the camera app, which now has all the settings and modes towards the bottom of the screen (in portrait orientation). This makes it easier to use the camera with one hand. Samsung has reportedly introduced newer and smoother animations and transitions across One UI 7.0.
