Do you remember the AR Emoji feature on Galaxy phones and tablets? It was meant to compete with Apple's Animoji, but the feature never reached its full potential. With One UI 7.0, Samsung renamed AR Emoji to Galaxy Avatar, but has the feature actually improved?
Let us find out.
AR Emoji renamed to Galaxy Avatar with One UI 7.0
The AR Emoji feature is now called Galaxy Avatar. The rename happened with the One UI 7.0 update, just as we reported earlier.
Samsung has put everything related to AR Emojis (now called Galaxy Avatar) in one place. However, it doesn't seem to offer any new options or design improvements. Everything, from hairstyles to dress options, looks similar to the earlier version. You can see Galaxy Avatar options in our screenshots below.
As usual, the Galaxy Avatars that you create will be synced between all your Galaxy smartphones and tablets through Samsung Cloud. Avatar Camera and Avatar Stickers can be access from Galaxy Avatar. As you can see below, you can change the looks of the face and the overall body and fashion styling of Galaxy Avatar.
It is disappointing to see that Samsung hasn't made any improvements to virtual avatars with Galaxy Avatar. Samsung had a chance to do something great, but it resorted to just a rebranding of the feature. Hopefully, we will see improvements to it with the next big One UI version.
