One UI is one of the most customizable Android skins out there. However, it lacks some features that Galaxy smartphone and tablet users have requested for a long time. One of those features includes a vertical app drawer, which could be coming to Galaxy devices in the future.
One UI 7.0 could bring a vertical app drawer option
According to the official in charge of Good Lock's development, the next big version of One UI will bring the vertical option in the app drawer. They revealed this information while answering a user's question about possibly getting that feature back in Good Lock's Home Up module.
Since the stock app launcher in One UI lacks vertical alignment, it was offered as an option in Good Lock's Home Up module. Enthusiasts and tinkerers could use that feature to change the app drawer's alignment. However, the feature was recently removed, and we now know why. Since One UI 7.0 will bring a vertical app drawer option, Home Up doesn't need that feature anymore. However, it will be an issue for those with Galaxy phones and tablets whose last update will be One UI 6.
Google recently released Android 15 Beta 1, and more beta versions will be released before Google I/O 2024 in May. A few months/weeks after Google I/O 2024, Samsung could open the One UI 7.0 Beta Program for Galaxy S24 and other high-end phones. The stable version of Android 15-based One UI 7.0 could be released in the fourth quarter of this year.
