We're nearing the end of May, and Samsung has started seeding a new update for the Galaxy A03. The new firmware doesn't include the latest security patch, but the new release is indeed meant to improve the phone's security level.
It's the April 2023 security update that the Galaxy A03 is now receiving in select markets. Or, more specifically, Ecuador, for the variant carrying model number SM-A035M. Other models, such as the SM-A035F and SM-A035G, should follow suit in other markets.
The new update can be identified by firmware version A035MUBS2CWE2. And as you can probably tell, if you know what the letters and numbers in Samsung's firmware mean, the update doesn't bring any new features or One UI changes. It's all about improving the security level.
Samsung detailed the April 2023 security patch last month. It contains 55 security fixes for flaws found in Google's software and 15 additional fixes that concern security flaws affecting Samsung software and hardware on Galaxy phones and tablets. Some of those security issues were linked to Exynos chips and modems, but because the Galaxy A03 is powered by a Unisoc chipset, there's no concern there.
Galaxy A03 users in regions where the update is available can download it by opening the Settings app on their phones, accessing “Software update,” and tapping “Download and install.” Alternatively, SamMobile readers can download official firmware files from our website and install updates manually through their PCs.
